Who We Are

Halifax Repertory Theatre (HRT) is a 501c3 traveling theatre group based out of the greater Daytona Beach area. HRT offers a variety of productions, from old classics to new excitements. Our performers deliver story-telling in a captivating way, bringing the intrigue of theatre back to our community. But our heart for the performing arts doesn't stop there. A percentage of the proceeds from our productions are donated to local organizations, like the Children’s Musical Theatre Workshop, a 501c3 Florida Non-Profit. This allows the love for theater to continue to grow and flourish in our community. We are passionate about bringing quality live entertainment into our community. Jack Cook

Producer and Performer

Jack is a show business lifer having been raised behind the counter of his family’s Magic Shop (www.daytonamagic.com) and having traveled the world from a young age where he gained prominence as an accomplished magician and comedian. Credits include Mame (Patrick), 42 nd Street (Billy Lawlor), Oklahoma (Will Parker), Gifts of the Magi (Willy Porter), Yours Anne (Peter), I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Man), West Side Story (Baby John, Riff), Pirates of Penzance (Frederic), The World Goes Round, Fiddler on the Roof (Perchek) and Clue, the Musical (Mr. Body). Jack recently moved back to Ormond Beach after over 25 years spent away which included enlistment in the Marine Corps and time spent as a school teacher. While living in Orlando, Jack was honored to perform with the Orlando Opera Company and Murderwatch Mystery Dinner Theater, where he was the co-creator of the hit dinner theater show, My Big Fat Grease Wedding! By day, Jack is a trial lawyer who brings his brand of Razzle Dazzle into courtrooms around the country.

Sandra Cook

Executive Director & Performer

Sandra originates from Massachusetts but was raised in Ormond Beach and attended Seabreeze High School. Sandra began her love for theatre at a young age as a part of Children’s Musical Theatre Workshop here in Ormond. Sandra recently returned to Ormond Beach after living in Orlando for over 20 years, where she performed regularly with the Orlando Opera Company and was a featured performer in Dreamland Productions musical Murderwatch Mystery Theater. Credits include West Side Story (Maria), Wizard of Oz (Glinda), Pirates of Penzance (Mabel), Pajama Game (Babe), and Ronette (Little Shop of Horrors). Sandra serves as the Executive Director for Halifax Repertory Theatre and is the co-creator of two fabulous children (Chase and Lorelei). “I am really excited to be part of the cultural renaissance in Ormond Beach, and could not be more honored to be performing back in Ormond Beach and helping in cultivating our local talent to the highest levels.”

Jenny made her first stage debut at 6 months old in Daytona Playhouse’s production of “The King and I “, Jenny has pretty much been performing her whole life. She was the lead singer for local cover band, Liquid Jade for 5 years, and has performed in over 40 musicals. Some of her favorite roles include Peggy Sawyer in “42nd Street”; the Narrator in “Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”; Chava in “Fiddler on the Roof”; Mary Jane Wilkes in “Big River”; Lilly St. Regis in “Annie”; and Crissy in “Hair”. Professional stage credits include “Iolanthe”; “Gypsy””; “A Christmas Carol” and “The King and I” with regional theatre, Seaside Musical Theatre and “Nothing Like a Dame Gala 1995 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS” at the Marquis Theatre in NYC with the first ladies of Broadway and Phyllis Newman’s Women’s Health Initiative of the Actors Fund of America. Jenny has been a part of Children’s Musical Theatre Workshop, Inc. (“CMTW” since its beginning in 1981. Starting out as a student, then dance instructor, and choreographer for over 25 years with CMTW. She has also been the Business Manager for the past 15 years. She is very excited to be the Director of Education for HRT and help create a program that will benefit our community.

Jennifer McGill

Artistic Director & Guest Artist 

Jennifer began her career at age 10 as a Mouseketeer on The Disney Channel’s “The All-New Mickey Mouse Club”. She is a speaker, recording artist, songwriter & vocal coach with over 35 years of experience in front of audiences around the world. Jennifer has performed with artists including Christina Aguilera, Boyz II Men, Bobby Burgess, JC Chasez, Diana Degarmo, Celine Dion, Joey Fatone, Luis Fonsi, Annette Funicello, Danny Gokey, Ryan Gosling, Alanis Morissette, Keri Russell, Nicole Scherzinger (Pussy Cat Dolls), Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and the Broadway casts of Stomp and Zanadu at Broadway’s New Amsterdam Theatre (Vocal Conductor & Guest Performer for “Stompadu” which won 2nd place at NYC’s 2007 Gypsy of the Year), and most recently, she was in HRT's smash hit I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change and featured as one of the Storyteller's in the Storyteller quartet in NYC’s Lincoln Center in the Broadway Concert Series production of “Children of Eden”.  After graduating with Honors from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Jennifer returned to Disney World to perform in the  acapella group “American VYBE” (Musically directed by Deke Sharon, Vocal Arranger for the Pitch Perfect movies and NBC’s The Sing-Off) and to coach “Disney Magic Movie Days” choral groups. Jennifer is the co-creator of two live touring shows, “Bravehearted Girls: The Warrior Princess Quest” and “Freedom Fighters”. In 2017, Jennifer released her full-length Pop Inspirational album “Unbreakable”. Jennifer is an executive coach for PCG Artist Strategies (Nashville) and frequently travels to teach, inspire, and  encourage all generations to live and  create with genuine joy and excellence. Jennifer is thrilled to be a part of the HRT family as HRT's Artistic Director. 

 

Stephen Simmons

Technical Director & Performer

Stephen began performing at the age of 4 with Children’s Musical Theatre Workshop, Inc. Over the years, he has performed in countless musicals and reviews. In December of 1989, he performed on National Television for the “John Denver Christmas Show”. In college he worked as a backup singer for Paul Anka. Since then, he has worked in Local, Regional and Professional Theatre Companies on and off the stage as a performer, sound/lighting tech, and as a Technical Director. His favorite roles include the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Archibald Craven in the Secret Garden, and Barnum in Barnum.

Dance Director & Performer

Crisi has been both on stage as a performer and behind the scenes as a choreographer and/or director in various musicals in community, regional and professional theatres. Crisi is also the Dance Director for Children’s Musical Theatre Workshop, Inc. and is a certified teacher through the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum.  Some of her favorite performance roles include: Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes; the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Dorothy Brock in 42nd Street.  Some of her favorite credits as a choreographer include Marvelous Wonderettes, Into The Woods, Matilda, Jr., You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Camp Rock, Jr., AristoCats, Jr.,  42nd Street, and Beauty and the Beast.  Crisi is overjoyed to be a part of the HRT family.

Jill has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Elon University and is currently the Theatre Director at Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach. Her professional faves include The Last Five Years (Cathy), Hair (Sheila), Children of Eden (Yonah), Songs for a New World (Woman 1), Singer/Vocal Captain for Holland America Line. Jill’s Favorite roles of all time:  Sasha’s wife, Busik’s dog mom, and mom of the sweetest boy in the world, Leo.

Skylar recently moved home to Florida after graduating from Reinhardt University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre and a minor in Dance. Skylar’s recent theatre credits include HRT's I HRT Broadway, Ensemble/Dance Captain in Escape to Margaritaville (Athens Theatre), Shellhamer in Miracle on 34th Street (Beach Street Rep), April in Company (Reinhardt University), and Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes (Reinhardt University). She is thrilled to be joining old teachers, new friends, and everyone at Halifax Repertory Theatre!

Born and raised in Ormond Beach, Chelsea took to the stage at a young age performing on this stage with Children's Musical Theatre Workshop and at the Daytona Beach Opry. While participating in the American Musical Theatre program at Seabreeze High School, she began working professionally at Seaside Music Theater where she was seen in many shows including Beauty and the Beast, CATS, and Singing in the Rain. After graduating from The Boston Conservatory with a degree in Musical Theatre, she traveled to seven countries with the International Broadway tour of Green Day's American Idiot and continued to live her dreams performing in regional theaters across the country in roles such as "Amber" in Hairspray (Maltz Jupiter Theatre), and "June" in Gypsy (Sacramento Music Circus). Chelsea currently resides in New York City where she is the "Audrey" understudy in the current Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors opposite Jonathan Groff.
